The question to remember: is this company officially authorized?
We have seen many people deceived by fraud, and the last thing we want is for anyone to become a victim of crime. Ensuring that a business is legal is an important preventive measure to avoid scams or suspicious special offers that sound “too good to be true”. Illegal companies have an unauthorized business setup in Dubai and hence they do not falter to commit crimes and then vanish.
First of all, business owners can make an undertaking of their company, with the basic acquaintance they have with the company they plan to deal with, they can:
- Call the company.
- If the office address is displayed on your communications, you can visit the office on your own.
Other ways to ensure the registration of a business in Dubai:
First of all, every company registered in the country must have a trading license to maneuver, whether it is associated with a sole proprietorship or LLC formation in Dubai. You can ask them to send you a copy or check it online with the DED (Department of Economic Development). Note that commercial licenses are not confidential documents as they should be displayed publicly in any office or store. It is the public’s right to access this document or to request it.
Remember, most illegal companies will give you an invalid registration number. This can simply be confirmed and help you avoid getting into intricate and futile business relationships.
Remember you do not need to be an Inspector Gadget to find out if a company exists or not. There are a few ways you can use it individually or combine it for your security.
Here are a few steps you can take to verify business information:
As mentioned above, you can request their business license and check directly with the public forums whether the license is registered or not. If you are planning to start a business with Dubai partners, then you should be able to provide yourself with the necessary documentation. If you feel angry, it should make you more alert. Indeed, in a trade license, there is no confidential information. Only the details you will get are the company name, office address, registration number, license number, and name of the manager. A person who refuses to share with you means that his or her business may be illegal; if the company is registered in one of the UAE Free Zones, you may not be able to verify your online license. The only option you have is to contact the email subscriber stating the company name and ask if the company is registered and whether the license is valid (and not canceled).
Or another alternative is to visit the registration center directly by visiting their offices in person; you can apply for a Positive Certificate from the local registration authority. In general, the Positive Certificate shows that the company has completed all reports and payments to the authorities. It serves as proof, or proof, that the business exists and is authorized to do business at Emirates.
You can also use the social media policy to authenticate business. Make sure the company has access to the Internet. For example, can you check that they have certified profiles on Instagram, Facebook, etc.? Another way is to check if they have a workforce on social media such as LinkedIn…;
Google Company: try to find information on online sites, proof. If a company is occupied in any scam or illegitimate activity, you are more likely to find this information online.
Last but not the least, you can look up government websites and free site sites to make sure you are in business with a real and legitimate company. In this case, a few channels and forums can be used to get information about a business license. This includes DED websites on each emirate and the National Economic Register.
Here’s how to check the legitimacy of a business:
- You can use a company name or license number to verify:
- If you are working with a local UAE company, you can check out the DED website for eligible emirates.
- If the only information you have is the name, you can visit the National Economic Register website and check if the company exists or not.
