Tips for a teenage party: If your teen (adolescent) wants to have a party for his or her birthday, that can be quite a challenge. You really don’t need to bring a birthday of a teenager with biscuits anymore or a trip to the Mac… But what can you do if your teenager still really wants to throw a ‘party’? As he has been telling other how old am I today, and inviting all of them to a special birthday party on my birthday. Now you have 1 advantage: those teenagers usually know what they want to do! Still, need some inspiration together? Who knows, we may have the golden tip for you here!
Think along!
First of all, don’t make the mistake of throwing your own party because you think your son or daughter wants to. Lesson 1 with adolescents: they are old enough to decide for themselves whether or not they throw a party. Here around me (and also with my sons) it is actually just finished after primary school and friends are just invited to the birthday itself or possibly on another evening.
The only thing they do is ‘hang out with each other and watch a movie or, for example, play a game on the Wii. So nothing difficult about it. You provide enough food and drink in the house. But of course, it may be the case that your son or daughter is in the mood for a real blast. But also don’t really know what. Or that he/she prefers to do something outside the door. But where are you going then? A problem? No, there are countless things that are really just fun to do with teenagers.
Escape rooms
Something that is very fun to do at that age and which is a real outing is to book an escape room. Check the ages to see which one is suitable, because an escape room from 7 years old is of course really not fun! Realize that as a parent you are really only the taxi driver. If you go to an escape room where young people are not allowed to enter alone, of course, you can come along. Or maybe your child and his group of friends will only like it if you come along too. Anyway, book an escape room where there is really something to experience. Combine it with some good food and you have a complete party.
To the ski hall/ice rink
Sporty children? Then a visit to the ski hall or an ice rink together is sure to be a success. Never skied? No problem. Just nice to first arrange a ski lesson and then some free skiing, for example. Or the snowboard! There are also ski halls that offer other activities in the snow at certain times, such as tubing (sledding). So check out the options on the site of the ski hill in your area.
Other sporty ideas
Less craving for cold? But do you like sports? Then a subtropical swimming paradise is probably more to your liking. Especially if it is an extensive swimming pool with various slides or even a wild water course, then the fun is guaranteed! With teenagers to the local swimming pool, with only a simple competition pool… those times have actually passed! Other sporting ideas are:
- Polder sports
- Climbing in a climbing park or at a climbing wall
- Play basketball or football in the sports hall (which can often be rented by the hour)
Theme park
Expensive? Yes. But if you keep an eye on sites to score discount coupons, an amusement park can also be a great idea. Or limit the number of friends to just a few best friends. After all, the rest can also just drop by for an evening… After all, amusement parks are highly valued by most adolescents. Another idea: several friends celebrate their birthday together so that the costs are shared.
Night gaming
Let the guests bring their own computers and organize a real night of gaming. Simple, but often hits the mark. Make clear agreements and plan in advance that you will not sleep much yourself…
Nice workshops
Especially if you have children with a certain interest, a workshop can be a lot of fun to visit. This can of course is about anything and everything. From make-up to painting, from flower arranging to make jewelry. I must confess that it is mainly focused on women’s issues…
To the cinema
Love movies, but don’t feel like staying at home? Then looking for a good movie at the cinema is, of course, the solution. Going to the cinema together and possibly completing this with a dinner before the film is of course great. Of course, the birthday boy or girl decides which movie it will be!
Old-fashioned disco party
As a teenager, you must have loved going to a party and swinging (or watching it…) for hours. Of course, not every child likes this, but if your son or daughter does like this, you can keep it very simple and make sure you have enough space somewhere for a dance floor. Music on and ready. Or hire a DJ with the necessary equipment. Then you make it something more special. You can throw such a party inside the living room, in a spacious garage, in the garden or maybe you know a nice room that you can rent?
Karting
Renting a kart can also be the pinnacle of happiness if you have a boy (or girl) who loves going fast… Pay attention to the ages that are used, because this can sometimes differ.
Surprise party
Do you really want to surprise your son or daughter with a party? You know best whether or not your child will appreciate this! You can cobble together a surprise party in different ways. You can have the guests come to you if your child is not at home for a while (so you let someone ‘abduct’ him so that you are sure that everything will be fine). Or you rent a room somewhere, for example, and you go there with your child as an excuse. Of course, all guests are already there.
You can spice it up with nice extras. A DJ is of course a great plan, but other entertainers can also be an original idea. A clown is of course less suitable now, but a magician can be fun. Or an artist. In any case, try to think from the perspective of your son or daughter and not how you would find something yourself!
