Will Exalted Orbs still be a thing in Path of Exile 2?

Fans are anxiously waiting for the next major update for the game. What can players expect from Path of Exile in the future?

It has been months since the Sentinel League went live, and players are having a blast with the new features that help them earn more PoE currencies. The latest expansion provided players with the Sentinel Controller system and a new game mode. However, players are now wondering what the next step for the ARPG is?

The Current Major Update

The latest major update to occur in PoE involved the Sentinel League. The expansion brought out new conjurable adds called Sentinel Controllers available for PoE accounts, which increased the chance and rarity of loot from mobs. These add enhanced monsters by providing them with modifiers while also buffing the drop rates.

There are three types of Sentinels in the game. These are the Stalker, Pandemonium, and Apex:

  1. Red wardens charge a pack of enemies and then move to other groups if they still have charges.
  2. A blue Sentinel empowers by activating a chain-modifier that modifies mobs in one attack.
  3. A golden summon that focuses on empowering rare and unique monsters and significantly improving their drop chance and quality.

Aside from the Sentinel, players can also partake in the new Hardmode version of the game. Previously, players could only create characters in the Standard or League versions of PoE. The new game mode allowed players to take on foes at a much more incredible difficulty, but it has a catch. Dying in Hardmode will automatically place the character in the Standard Version, making survival one of players’ most significant priorities.

The Sentinel expansion is far from over; a few more significant patches will be coming in over the next few months. PoE 3.19 is due sometime shortly, with fans expecting the update to go live on August 12 or 19. However, players are looking further ahead and waiting for further announcements about Path of Exile 2.

Path of Exile 2 and Other Updates

GGG has already announced that PoE 2 was under development and that gamers can experience the sequel in a few years. The second Path of Exile game is set to continue the story 20 years after the fall of Kitava. The sequel will feature a new set of campaigns along with the original one. In addition, PoE 2 will also retain every content and expansion that was introduced in the previous version.

PoE 2 will retain half of the content from the original game, but it will provide a complete overhaul of several of the interfaces. There will be a new skill gem system, equipment, and reworks on several core game features. The changes will optimize and smoothen out how the inventory and loot system works.

Aside from these new features, PoE 2 will include another set of new Ascendancy classes. These 19 advanced jobs will be available alongside the previous existing fields. The game will also feature fresher and improved character models. A new passive skill tree will also be added to the current Atlas tree to ensure players won’t have too much trouble transitioning to the sequel.

Unfortunately, the release of Path of Exile 2 has been postponed until 2024. The sequel is currently undergoing development, and a beta phase is expected to occur in 2023. Fans will have to wait a few more years before the game fully launches, so several Leagues might get patched in until then.

PoE Patch 3.19

While PoE 2 is still far off, and there are no further details on any upcoming League, players will just have enjoyed the current expansion. The next major patch for Sentinel will be 3.19, focusing on several in-game balancing, particularly with several classes. In addition, a new Hardcore Solo Self-Found event will occur in the current League. Aside from these details, there is no further information about the upcoming patch.

Grinding Gears mainly focuses on developing Path of Exile 2 and optimizing the Sentinel League. While there is no information on whether there will be more expansions and what they will contain, fans are assured that new content will be available eventually. In the meantime, players should focus on farming more PoE currency in the current League.
