In January, the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) discovered 29,000 fake invoices issued by Tier-1 retailers with Point of Sale (POS) integration.
Tier-1 Retailers integrated with the POS system issued approximately 37 million invoices in January 2021, up from 33 million in December 2021, indicating a consistent growth of 4 million. However, FBR admitted that “29,000 invoices issued by Tier-1 Retailers could not be verified and are believed to be fake.”
