Kuwait City: Kuwait is banning a new film adaptation of Agatha Christie’s whodunnit “Death on the Nile” featuring a cast of Hollywood stars, including Israeli actress Gal Gadot, authorities said Sunday.
The film, directed by and starring Kenneth Branagh, will be released this month in the United States. The story is one of the most famous works by British author Christie, also known as the “Queen of Crime”.
But moviegoers in Kuwait won’t be able to watch it, said Ministry of Information spokeswoman Anouar Mourad AFPconfirmation of press releases.
According to the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Qabas, the decision was made in response to social media requests to ban the film.
The film also stars Indian film actor Ali Fazal and Game of Thrones star Rose Leslie alongside Gadot and other lead actors.
