Punjab government installs solar power plants in 528 villages to supply cheap electricity to more than 30,000 homes – Webeys

Punjab Chief Minister Sardar Usman Buzdar recently stated that solar power plants will be installed in 528 villages.

He said solar power plants would be built at five WASA sites to save Rs 2.5 billion in annual electricity bills while presiding over a meeting at his office.

During the meeting, it was decided to build hybrid wind and solar installations to power rural places. The meeting was attended by the Chief Secretary of the Chief Minister/Secretary of State for Energy, the CEO of the Quaid-e-Azam Solar Power Plant, the MD of the Pakistan Power Development Board, the CEO of PPDCL and other officials.

The CM underlined the importance of using cheap energy sources such as sun, wind and biogas for energy production.

He also said solar power facilities would be used to electrify remote locations through an off-grid alternative.
