Chicken Chow Mein Recipe
The chicken chow mein recipe basically comprises two portions. The preparation of noodles and the preparation of traditional chicken chow mein seasoning.
Ingredients
This yummy Chinese cuisine includes healthy ingredients. And shows great variation in ingredients according to the regional taste and flavors. Commonly used ingredients are
- Egg fry noodles 1 pack
- 1 kg chicken breast (wash and cut into cubes)
- Mix vegetables (wash and cut into cubes)
- Olive oil
- Salt and black pepper
- Garlic and ginger paste
- Onions
- Water
For chow mein sauce:
- Soya sauce
- Corn starch
- Oyster sauce
- Chinese wine or vinegar
- Sesame oil
- White pepper powder
Preparation of Noodles
Take a large pot and add water to it. Add two tablespoons of salt and heat till the water starts boiling. Now add the egg fry noodles and cool for 5 minutes. Handle the noodles with utmost care to avoid them from breaking. Turn off the flame and drain the noodles. Keep them aside. Avoid overcooking noodles. Because it damages the crispy texture of noodles.
Now take vegetable oil in a pan and heat over low flame. Now pour all the vegetables into it. Cook over medium flame to fry the vegetables. After stir-frying, remove the vegetables from the pan. And again add the oil to the pan. After heating the oil add onion paste and fry till golden.
Now add the garlic and ginger paste and fry until the roasted smell. Now add the chicken cubes, 1 tablespoon salt, and fry. Allow simmering until the chicken becomes golden. Now add the vegetables, chili powder, and salt. Simmer for five minutes.
Add noodles to the chicken and veggies mixture and mix it well. Cook for 2 minutes.
Note: most commonly used veggies are cabbage, reddish, bell peppers, and peace but you can use any seasonal vegetables. Same with the chicken, you can replace it with any other type of meat.
Chicken Chow Mein Sauce Preparation

To prepare this traditional sauce take a bowl and whisk all the seasonings including soya sauce, chipotle sauce, oyster sauce, and vinegar together. Take cornstarch into a bowl and pour the all sauces mixture into it. Mix well and the sauce is ready.

Take olive oil in a large pan and heat. Then add the sauce to it and simmer for 2 minutes. Now add the noodles and mix well. Stir fry for 5 minutes.
