There is something to be said for staying current. Windows 11 is the leading desktop operating system’s first major update in seven years. When you upgrade to Windows 11, you get the most recent technological advances and interface design.
You will also have access to capabilities and features that are only available in the most recent version of the software. Even the included apps have been updated! The underlying system code also advances, leaving you in the dust if you continue to use older software.
Making a significant change in operating systems, on the other hand, is not for everyone, and I’ve expressed my reservations about Windows 11 in previous articles.
But don’t worry, you still have until 2025 to stick with Windows 10. Meanwhile, here are some compelling reasons why you should make the switch sooner rather than later.
Reasons To Upgrade to Windows 11
Windows 10 has been around for a few years now and while it is a great operating system, there are some features and improvements that Windows 11 offers. Windows 11 is faster, more secure, and has better search features. Additionally, the Windows Store has many more apps and games than the Windows Store available for Windows 10.
Let’s have a sneak peak view on why you should upgrade to Windows 11 from Windows 10 or earlier.
A More Consistent User Experience
When their friends show them their slick macOS and Chrome OS user interfaces, PC users no longer have to shake their heads. Apart from the occasional old-school Control Panel dialogue box, Windows 11 is every bit as slick.
The rounded window corners, small Taskbar, and touch-friendly (sorry, Apple) design are pleasing to the eye. It simply looks better. Not to mention the understated but pleasing new system sounds(Opens in a new window).
Apps Included Have Been Improved
Windows 11’s included apps outperform those in Windows 10. A brand-new Media Player app improves the experience of watching videos and listening to music and podcasts. Clipchamp (coming soon to Windows 11) is a simple template-based PWA video editor suited to small businesses creating videos for marketing and advertising.
The Windows 11 Clock app deserves special mention for its useful new Focus Sessions feature, which allows you to focus on projects. The Photos app also includes a surprising amount of video editing power, including some features not even found in Clipchamp. The apps Notepad, Paint, and Calculator have also been updated.
A More Effective Screenshot Tool
Taking screenshots in Windows 11 is getting better, with more options. Microsoft has updated the clunky old Snipping Tool (available by pressing Windows Key-Shift-S), which competes with the similarly named and superior Snip & Sketch app.
You can use the Snipping Tool to select rectangular or freehand areas, programme windows, or the entire desktop. It then launches a mini-editor for cropping and annotation.
The screenshot tool also includes a delay timer and saving and sharing options. To save a screen image file to the clipboard or OneDrive, you can still use the tried-and-true PrtSc key.

Snap Layouts for a Clean Desktop
Windows has always allowed you to arrange windows on the desktop exactly how you want them.
Just when I thought it was impossible to improve on Windows 10’s already excellent capabilities—which allow you to snap a window to the side to fill exactly half the screen or to a corner to fill exactly a quarter of the screen real estate—Microsoft introduces Snap Layouts.
When you hover your mouse over the maximise icon at the top right of any window, you’ll see a thumbnail view with multiple layout options. You can even save a layout for a group of apps in a single taskbar icon to reuse later.
Conclusion
In conclusion, Windows 11 offers a wealth of features and improvements that make it well worth upgrading to. Whether you’re looking for a more efficient and organized desktop, better security and privacy, or just want to try something new, Windows 11 is sure to please. So don’t wait any longer; upgrade to Windows 11 today and see what all the fuss is about!
Upgrading to Windows 11 is a great idea. It provides a number of benefits, including better security, faster performance, and a more user-friendly interface. So if you’re looking for a new operating system, Windows 11 is the best option available.
