Sharjeel Imam is an Indian Islamic fundamentalist. He was a JNU scholar (Ph. D. of the Center for Historical Studies) when he made an incendiary statement at Aligarh Muslim University. He had urged Muslims to cut the chicken’s neck and free Assam from India. It was later revealed that he was inciting Indian Muslims to war against the Indian state. He was arrested and is currently in prison. Recently, a court in Delhi has asked the police to file incitement against him.

Sharjeel Imam is known for its Islamic link. It is quite easy in India for Islamists to wear the burqa of communism. He did the same. This imprisoned Islamist likes to be called a comrade. He is a highly educated person endowed with wonderful oratorical skills. He also belongs to a family known for their nationalistic streak.

He has now been arrested and sent to pre-trial detention. - – Sharjeel belongs to a family known for their secular credentials. They are landlords, with a difference. They have always ensured that Hindus from the area are helped. Even Sharjeel’s arrest on serious charges, you will hardly find any Hindus in the area uttering bad words to the Imam family. Two years ago, the family also donated a piece of land for the construction of a temple. The market price of the donated land is more than Rs. 1 Cro.
