Windows 11 does a lot better than Windows 10 at launch: Microsoft

Microsoft reminisces about Windows 10’s performance over the past two years on its official blog and shared its many milestones.

To date, there are currently more than 1.4 billion monthly active Windows 10 and 11 users around the world. In addition, it was noted that time spent on Windows had increased by 10% from pre-pandemic levels.

On average, people spent 40% more time on PCs running Windows 11 than they did on Windows 10. However, this increase cannot be fully attributed to the prowess of Microsoft’s latest operating system.

Citing data from Canalys, a global technology market analyst, Microsoft said more than 340 million PCs were shipped in 2021, up 27% from 2019.

The free upgrade to Microsoft 11 was accepted by users twice as fast as compared to Windows 10 through Windows 8.

Microsoft also stated that Windows 11 has the highest quality and satisfaction scores of any Windows ever. However, the statistics presented by the company fail to mention that Windows 11 was only offered to a small subset of Windows 10 users, while the upgrade from Windows 8 to Windows 10 was available to almost every user.

Despite a bumpy transition, Microsoft’s stats were impressive. While numerous issues have been documented with AMD processors running Windows 11, including various bugs and performance issues, they were mostly addressed and resolved later.

The company claims Windows 11 is responsible for a tripling of Microsoft Store traffic, most of which could be due to favorable Store policies from 2021.

Microsoft also claims that the upgrade to Windows 11 will soon enter its final stage of availability, much earlier than the company’s original plan of mid-2022.
