The huge coal deposits were discovered at the Thar Coal Block-1 site after the completion of an excavation coordinated by the Pakistani government and a Chinese company.
Miners’ efforts paid off in Sindh province when a massive coal reserve was found below 145 meters during the excavation project of the Thar Coal Block-1 site, which was completed Monday morning.
According to experts, Thar Coal Block-I’s coal reserves are comparable to 3 billion to 5 billion barrels of crude oil.
In the first phase, the administration estimates annual production at 7.8 million tons, according to a statement. The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project has been rated as Thar Coal Block-I.
Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah praised the public for the discovery of coal seams in Tharparkar, calling it the second greatest achievement of the provincial government.

Block One of the Thar Coal Field has wells of up to 3 billion tons of coal, which is equivalent to 5 billion barrels of crude oil.
