A new business plan aimed at bailing Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) from financial ruin has been submitted to the Ministry of Finance for approval.
The International Air Transport Association (IATA) devised a business plan to turn the loss-making national airline into a profitable organization.
Last year, the government decided to hire international consultants to develop a whole new business model to help the national airline out of financial difficulties.

IATA’s comprehensive plan foresees that the flag carrier will be a profitable organization by 2024. The number of aircraft in the airline’s fleet would increase from 29 to 49 under the new strategy, while the number of passengers on PIA flights will be increased from 5.2 million. up to 9 million.
