Pakistani freelancers earned export earnings of $216,788 million in July-December FY22, up 16.74 percent from $185,698 million in the same period last year.
According to data released by the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunications (IT&T), freelancers earned export earnings of $163,881 million through IT-related projects and $52,907 through non-IT gigs.
In contrast to July-December FY21 revenue of $185.698 million (IT: $173.327 million + non-IT: $12.371 million), freelancers’ revenue grew 16.74 percent for the corresponding period this year.
Their July-December FY22 revenues were $163.881 million, accounting for 12.59 percent of total ICT export remittances of $1,301,880 million in the same period.
Previously, the Federal Minister of IT&T, Syed Amin Ul Haq, had instructed the Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) to take every possible step to meet the IT export target. He said it is vital to promote all matters related to information technology and to connect the young, and students in particular, to the digital world as part of Prime Minister Imran Khan’s vision for a digital Pakistan.
Minister Amin Ul Haq noted that the (MoIT&T) is playing an important role in helping with the pandemic through information technology, and mentioned that the number of COVID-19 cases in the country is decreasing. Moreover, the generous incentives from the government and various projects to improve the capacity and capacity of the IT industry have led to strong growth rates in the sector.
